Hiking Trails

The central feature is the Amphitheatre, an inspiring rock wall rising 700 meters above the foothills. Prominent peaks include Mont-aux-Sources, the Sentinel, Inner Tower, Eastern Buttress and Devil’s Tooth.

The dome of Mont-aux-Sources is the source of five major rivers, including the Tugela, which plunges 600-m over the escarpment in a spectacular waterfall. The park is accessible by tarred road 2 km from Mont Aux Sources Hotel. There are a number of trails in the park, such as:

  • Mont-aux-Sources via Basutho Gate and the Chain Ladder. Extreme, 20-km, 10 hrs
  • Amphitheatre to Cathedral. Severe, 62-km, 4-5 days
  • Ottos’s Walk and Bushman (Bushmen) Paintings. Easy, 2-km, 1 hour.
  • McKinley’s Pool, Gudu Falls and the Grotto photoshop cs6 mac download. Moderate, variable distances.
  • Sigubudu Ridge and Valley. Moderate, 12-km, 4-5 hours.
  • Lion Buttress. Moderate, 3.5-km, 1-2 hours.
  • Rugged Glen to Mahai. Moderate to severe, 14-km, 5-6 hours.
  • Tugela Gorge. Moderate, 7-km, 2 hours.

There are a large selection of easy and shorter trails and walks within the Park.
